What isn't Generator?

Sometimes it's easier to explain what we're about by telling you what we're not.

We are not a record label.


We do not own masters or copyrights. We do not advance money for marketing or production. We don't do radio promotion or publicity (though we do at times hire and manage promoters and publicists for our clients).

We are not a social network.


We are not a competitor to MySpace or Facebook. In fact, we work with them to help drive traffic to our clients' communities. We build the "home base" that spiders out to connect to your other web presences.

We are not a management company.


A lot of what we actually end up doing looks a little like management, and we certainly offer the kind of advice and strategic direction that good managers often provide. But almost all of our clients have management and booking. Our goal is to help connect the dots between all of your business relationships, to give you the strategic business tools to connect with your customers and make money.

We do not own your I.P. address or domain name.


You will always retain 100% ownership of, and access to, your site's domain name and customer database.

We are not (just) a web design firm.


We do design web sites, and we know a thing or two about code, servers and database programming. And we think we have a pretty powerful content management system. But the launch of their new web site is the beginning of our relationship, not the end, providing a long-term relationship to help you navigate through your company's brand imaging, marketing and sales.

We do not make you feel stupid for not knowing how to do the web.


And that's because we used to be clients, too. We know what it's like to be talked down to, to be put off, to be told the agency knows better because they are the agency. To that, we say hogwash! You are a crucial part of our process, because you are the only part of the team that knows your business and how to get things approved and paid for on your side of the relationship.
