The Movement Club

website design and development

Shaohanna's Hope Adoption Agency, Nashville, TN

Shaohanna's Hope is the orphan adoption agency established by Grammy Award winning artist Stephen Curtis Chapman. Through Show Hope, Chapman and his staff have directly assisted in the adoption of over 1,000 Chinese children who would otherwise likely live a life of destitution, rejection, physical abuse, and in many cases forced prostitution. In short, Show Hope is an organization doing unique and wonderful things.

The Movement Club is the student arm of Show Hope. The Movement Club recruits high schoolers to create clubs at their school, and organize events to help raise awareness for the needs of orphans in America and abroad.

Obviously, when you target teens, you must make sure you have a modern web presence. So when The Movement Club's director, Chris Wheeler, asked us to create his new website, we knew it had to look and work like a top-of-the-line website.

The website we developed for The Movement Club subtly reflects the art direction of the Show Hope website. We used similar colors and typefaces, while allowing for a cleaner, less cluttered layout that teens are likely to find more appealing.

From a functionality standpoint, there's a lot going on behind the scenes that make the website a powerful business platform for the organization. First, all of the club signup tools—like forms, downloadable documents and charter information—are presented through the website. This helps keep everything organized on the client side, and provides a streamlined signup process for new and existing clubs.

In addition, to help communicate the unique direction of The Movement Club, social networking plays a big role in the website's user experience. The organizations Twitter feed is dynamically fed to a box on the home page, links to Facebook and YouTube appear prominently throughout the site, and an on-site student journal is updated regularly. This helps make The Movement Club appear active and vibrant to the target audience, and streamlines the administrative process of running the clubs for Chris and his staff.

One of the most important content areas for the website are the weekly videos that Chris records for members. The website makes it easy for Chris to upload his videos to the site, via an embedded link with YouTube.

themovementclub.org is a compelling and deceptively powerful web platform that embodies the unique design and mission sensibilities of this truly one-of-a-kind not for profit organization.
